Mission Nightstand & Dresser (WNW)
This is a two-part plan package that includes plans for both a Mission
Style Nightstand, and also a matching Tall Mission Style Dresser.
For this project, I decided to try to make the build as simple as possible, while still preserving the Mission styling of the piece. So I started with a simple plywood box. The two sides are oak hardwood
plywood. The crossbraces are also small strips of oak plywood. And the back panel is also 1/4" oak plywood. The box is assembled with simple butt joints and pocket-hole joinery, as well as basic ordinary screw joints. Hardwood legs are then glued to the box, covering up the screw holes as well as enhancing the look with their curved forms.
The plan plackage consist of a 43 page PDF file, which contains instructions for both the nightstand and the tall dresser in one PDF document:
First, 26 Pages of instructions for the nightstand, including clear, simple, illustrated, instructions covering all steps of the construction process. Numerous 3D drawings in various stages of construction. A cutting plan, to help you layout the parts on a sheet of plywood. Several photos of my completed stand, giving both an overview and some closeup detail shots. This is followed by a 16 page document, which contains measured drawings of the dresser. This includes numerous 2D and 3D drawings covering all of the parts of the dresser. (This section does NOT include detailed
assembly instructions, as those are the same as for the nightstand.)
